New Year’s Day wasn’t so joyful for a clerk at a 7-Eleven in Lawndale. Not only did the woman have to work, a robber held a knife to her back.

The heist occurred at about 2:38 p.m. at 5800 Rising Sun Ave., police said. The masked crook walked into the store and behind the counter, where he threatened the clerk with a “large” knife and demanded money. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen on foot westbound on the 400 block of E. Cheltenham Ave.

Authorities described him as white, about 20 years old and thin with a (mostly) white hooded sweatshirt, a black mask and gray sweatpants.
